World DXpeditions

Educating the public of the benefits of Amateur Radio Operations by promoting amateur radio around the world.

Our Mission:

To organize budget and family friendly expeditions to rare Ham Radio entities in order to advance educational and technical knowledge.

World DXpeditions:

The ham radio expeditions of World DXpeditions, www.worlddxpeditions.org, are organized in a manner to be more efficient in providing opportunities for ham radio operators and their spouses to participate in distant (DX) expeditions with the help and generosity of sponsors and patrons. Equipment and supplies are saved and reused from DXpedition to DXpedition.

Sponsors are key to making World DXpeditions DXpeditions a success, www.worldDXpeditions.org/sponsors. They are acknowledged, recommended, and promoted on our website. Links to a Sponsor’s website are included. We are grateful to our sponsors who make it possible for ham radio operators to operate from foreign underdeveloped country entities for education and radio operation training.

The first DXpedition by World DXpeditions was to Vanuatu in 2024. This two week expedition was key to establishing the World DXpeditions style. Spouses were invited to this two week DXpedition but radio operation was the priority. We operated daily and during the two day CQ WW SSB Contest from resort style housing. Operators were K4QQG, N1NZ, K2SAV, and N4VGE. Key for choosing this location was it being in the top 100 most wanted countries on Club Log’s Most Wanted List and on a beach. Please see www.worldDXpeditions.org/vanuatu for pictures and more information.

Plans are now underway for a DXpedition to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, www.worldDXpeditions.org/andaman, for October of 2026. At this time Andaman Island is number 58 on Club Log’s Most Wanted List. Again it will be a two week DXpedition at a beach resort. The Operator Team are K1LZ, Krassy; K1ZM, Jeff; VE2DX, Richard; VU2RS, Sarath; N1NZ, Nick; W0ZB, Steve; K3PT, Kyle; N1QV, Mariam; KD0IVB, Emily; K2SAV, Savo; and N4VGE, Van. Three XYLs will be joining us.

On this DXpedition antennas are being prioritized. In addition to five receive antennas there will be 12 transmit antennas. The top 160m operator, K1ZM, is overseeing the installation of a full size 160m inverted L backed up with Beverage and DHDL receive antennas. Other antennas include 40m and 20m Four-Square antenna systems and assorted vertical antennas installed on the beach and two 6m-20m hex beams, a Yagi 6m beam, and dipoles installed inland.

The South Andaman Island station will be a contest/DXpedition station bringing a new dimension to DXpeditions. It will include six contest quality transceivers with legal limit amplifiers, interlock devices, and additional equipment normally only found in top level contest stations.
